The Rotary Club of East Cobb Awards $84,000 in Grants

The Rotary Club of East Cobb held their annual “Dog Days Give Back Celebration” this week in person where they joyfully awarded grants totaling $84,000 to 22 deserving Cobb County nonprofits. The East Cobb club has organized the Dog Days 5K Race for 16 years and credits the event as a major force behind impactful service projects and initiatives in our community. Because of the pandemic, their 2021 contributions for the year were down significantly. They were pleased to learn that although their contributions for 2021 were $64,000, they were still able to award $84,000 in grants because funds invested through their Donor Advised Fund (DAF) with Cobb Community Foundation had yielded such good results. President Wade Patrick said, “We have financial goals and have given over $1 million in awards to our community nonprofits over the years. So, we were disappointed when circumstances appeared to affect our giving potential for this year’s ‘Dog Days Give Back.’ But our CCF Fund is helping us build our resources and allowing us to give more to the community.  And giving to the community is why we are here– to serve to change lives.”

Presenting sponsor WellStar Health System and representatives of each of the 22 nonprofits shared their gratitude for what the Rotary is helping them to accomplish through these grants. This year’s race has been set for August 6, 2022.
