Vital Signs Heatmaps: Creating A Shared Understanding
The Vital Signs heatmaps were created to help us better understand how well-being varies across our community—and to make those patterns easier to see, explore, and act on. By bringing key indicators together in one place, this map can help reveal where needs are greatest, where progress is being made, and where deeper questions deserve attention.
This resource is possible because of the people and partners who contributed the data, expertise, time, and support to bring it to life. Thank you to everyone who helped make Vital Signs possible.
How to use the heatmap
Explore the map by selecting an index category (topic area) and boundary (geographical area); then compare patterns across the community. Red areas means areas of higher need, while green means an area of lower need. Each black dot represents a nonprofit organization working in that topic area to address that need. Use the Data Dictionary on the right to learn more about each indicator, what it means, and the source of the data. Remember that the maps are designed to show patterns and differences across places—not to explain why those differences exist.
We invite you to explore, ask questions, and use what you learn to help inform conversations and decisions that can improve quality of life for all those who call Cobb County home.
