Scholarship Fund Created by The Hinman Dental Meeting Board of Trustees

In discussions with their financial manager at Henssler Financial, the leadership team at the Hinman Dental Society learned that a scholarship fund created through Cobb Community Foundation would be the right choice to maximize their ability to give more scholarships. Not only would CCF provide the advantage of administrative support for scholarship creation according to IRS regulations, but would also offer tax-deductible gift status to potential donors. The Hinman Dental Meeting Board of Trustees determined that this made the most sense, and The Hinman Scholarship Fund was created.

The Thomas P. Hinman Dental Meeting is sponsored by the Hinman Dental Society, a non-profit organization. The first meeting was held in 1912 by Dr. Thomas P. Hinman with 40 dentists in attendance and was considered to be the first clinic strictly for serious-minded educational purposes.

Today, the Hinman Dental Society is comprised of more than 800 dentist members, primarily located in metropolitan Atlanta. The Hinman Dental Meeting continues to meet each year with thousands of dental professionals traveling from all 50 states and as far away as Japan and New Zealand.

The excess revenue of the Meeting is invested and gifted in the form of scholarships to individuals and institutions that foster dental education at the undergraduate and post-graduate levels. Since 2003, the Society has provided more than $11 million in total giving.

The Hinman Board of Trustees has established the Hinman Scholarship Fund to allow individuals and organizations to make donations. Funds will be disbursed at the discretion of the Hinman Board of Trustees to be used exclusively for scholarships to accredited programs associated with dental education.
