Cobb Community Foundation is proud to support the Atlanta Humane Society Fund, helping ensure pets and families across our community receive compassionate care, support, and second chances. This fund strengthens Atlanta Humane’s work by expanding vital services, improving access to care, and deepening community impact—so animals and the people who love them can thrive—throughout Cobb County and Metro Atlanta.
In December 2024, the Humane Society of Cobb County became part of the Atlanta Humane Society. This merger preserved all staff positions and set the stage for a significant transformation in 2025 featuring rebranding, renovations, and expanded services.
Growing Services for Pets and Families.
At its Marietta location, Atlanta Humane now offers a wide array of programs that help both pets and their people:
- Expanded cat adoption capacity — welcoming more cats into homes across the community
- Weekly low-cost vaccine clinics — serving hundreds of animals and reducing barriers to care
- Emergency sheltering for pets in crisis or disasters — ensuring support when families need it most
- Partnership with Dogs for Better Lives — training service dogs at no cost for families in need
- Community events and pet resources — engaging pet lovers and building connections across Cobb County
These services not only strengthen animal welfare but also help keep families together by offering support and resources when challenges arise.
A Bold Vision for the Future
The story doesn’t stop there. Thanks to generous support — including a major grant supporting statewide animal protection initiatives — Atlanta Humane is enhancing its capacity to respond to cruelty, disaster response, and community outreach across Georgia.
Atlanta Humane also recently broke ground on a new Crisis Response Center. This facility will expand their ability to rescue animals, assist families in need, and respond more effectively during emergencies. These next steps build on the foundation of care already happening in Marietta and ensures Atlanta Humane can serve even more pets and pet owners in the years ahead.

The Atlanta Humane Society is the oldest non-religious nonprofit in our area- with more than 150 years of history supporting pets and families. Its deep roots, broad reach, and evolving services make it a trusted leader in the region’s animal welfare landscape.

In 2025, Atlanta Humane participated in Cobb Community Foundation’s Match Magic campaign, raising $29,234 to further support their lifesaving programs and expand access to care for pets and families in need.
