Cobb Community Foundation is excited to announce that nominations are now open for the prestigious 2024 Howard Koepka Collaborative Spirit Award. This award honors the legacy of Howard Koepka, a visionary leader dedicated to connecting individuals and organizations for the greater good. Nominations will be accepted until 5 p.m. on Monday, November 18, 2024.
About the Award
The Howard Koepka Collaborative Spirit Award was established to recognize nonprofit organizations that embody the collaborative spirit that Howard personified throughout his life. From his impactful work organizing community service initiatives in Atlanta to leading disaster relief efforts in Puerto Rico, Howard demonstrated an unwavering commitment to mobilizing resources and building connections within the community.
Howard’s pivotal role with the Cobb Community Foundation during the pandemic exemplified his collaborative approach. By facilitating weekly calls among nonprofits, government, and faith-based organizations, he fostered an environment of cooperation, ensuring that resources were shared and relationships strengthened. Under his leadership, the Cobb Community Food Fleet distributed 168,000 boxes of fresh produce, dairy, and protein, a testament to what can be accomplished when organizations work together toward a common goal.
Howard’s humility was a hallmark of his character; when awarded the James L. Rhoden, Jr. Award for Visionary Philanthropy in December 2020, he accepted it on behalf of all those who contributed to the community’s efforts, emphasizing the importance of the collective over the individual.
