A local ministry team is working to build and outfit a new car maintenance facility that would provide car repair services for residents in need. David McCoy and his team of volunteers at the Matthew 25:40 Car Care Ministry (CCM) have been on the hunt for a new location after their previous garage became unavailable.

CCM’s journey began in 2001 when McCoy was approached by the Community Outreach committee at his church to help a community member with car troubles. This initial act of service sparked a broader mission, leading to the program’s official launch in early 2002. The ministry started in a recently acquired livestock barn, which, over the years, was transformed into a full-service auto repair center through numerous improvements and upgrades.

Supported by volunteers from both the local church and neighboring congregations, CCM quickly became a cornerstone of community service. Their collective efforts, inspired by David McCoy’s leadership, established a strong foundation for the ministry, enabling it to faithfully serve the residents of Cobb County and surrounding areas for 22 years.  That repair center is no longer available to them, but McCoy and his volunteers are committed to overcoming these hurdles to continue their vital work.

While they have identified a potential site at Macland Community Church, transforming this new location into a fully operational auto repair center comes with a significant price tag.

Fortunately, they have some help.

One tool they are using to help raise the money to build and equip the facility is a new agency fund through Cobb Community Foundation. This move will allow the small volunteer group to accept tax-deductible donations while CCF takes care of the bookkeeping required by IRS standards. CCF is also helping to promote the cause among their own charitable fundholders and other potential funders in the community.

As far as tools and equipment, Genuine Parts Company will be pitching in with shop management software and some other shop equipment that no car repair business can be without.

While Macland Community Church will provide the land and Genuine Parts will provide much of the tools and equipment, CCM will still need a building.  Fortunately for David McCoy, it’s a small world.  When Stacey Tillery saw WSB-TV’s story about Car Care Ministry, his wife, Jennifer, Director of Cobb County’s Accountability Courts, reminded him that this was the organization that fixed cars for people trying to turn their lives around.  “They’ve made a big difference in people’s lives,” Tillery commented, “and we want to help.” As owner of West Georgia Pole Barns, Tillery will be providing all the materials for the structure at a discounted price.

As CCM moves forward, it eagerly anticipates continuing its legacy of service from its new location. If you would like to make a donation to the Matthew 25:40 Car Care Ministry Fund you may visit their giving page here.
