When Keith Kellum’s company, BNY Mellon, offered a 100% match for charitable giving, it caught his attention. After all, giving to charitable causes, whether through volunteering or making contributions, was something he and wife Caitlin had been doing ever since they met at church and married more than 10 years ago. Now residents of Roswell and parents to two young children, they view things from a different perspective. “We’ve always been charitable at church and elsewhere with our time and with our contributions. But now that we have kids, there has been a change in mindset. Now we’re also setting an example of giving as a core value,” Keith shared.
Making a gift through his company’s portal to Cobb Community Foundation was easy. When they took the time to learn more about the benefits of working with CCF, they decided to create a fund where gifts could be matched by his company. A benefit valued by the Kellums is CCF’s knowledge of the nonprofits in their community. While they may not have the time to research the best way to make an impact on the community with their gift, the team at CCF is assessing needs daily and can give authoritative advice on organizations that are making a difference.
When asked which areas they may want to support with their fund, they were thoughtful. “We both have areas that we favor. But honestly, we love the idea of this fund growing over time and letting the kids get a little older so that we can find out what their ideas are. We want them to have a chance to discover what they like,” shared Caitlin.
