Four New Board Members Join Cobb Community Foundation

Cobb Community Foundation (CCF) announces four new members to serve on the Board of Directors, bringing the total number of board members to 30.

“We are excited to welcome these four individuals who are all well-respected in their industries and are each strongly committed to Cobb County.  Their diverse backgrounds and experiences will truly strengthen our organization and enable us to be a more effective catalyst for a thriving community,” said CEO Shari Martin.

“We are proud to welcome these highly accomplished individuals and look forward to working with them on upcoming initiatives,” said Chris Gruehn, CCF Board Chairman. The new board members began their two-year terms with CCF effective January 1, 2023. The four new board members are:

  • Condace Pressley, Emmy award-winning journalist and Director of Community and Public Affairs with WSB-TV, Atlanta;  Executive Producer of  People 2 People; Producer/Host of Perspectives podcast; Past President of both the Atlanta and National Association of Black Journalists; proud Grady College graduate from the University of Georgia; Member of  Georgia Radio and Georgia Association of Broadcasters Hall of Fame; Currently serving on Board of Directors for the United Way of Greater Atlanta and Chris 180; and also a Wellstar Foundation and Leadership Atlanta Board Trustee
  • Julie Teer, Senior Vice President and Wellstar Foundation President; past Chief Development and Public Affairs Officer at Boys & Girls Clubs of America; served as the youngest Press Secretary in the U.S. Senate; appointed to President’s Council for Sports, Fitness & Nutrition; received 2020 Innovation in Lobbying and Advocacy Award from Public Affairs Council
  • Lauren Abernethy, Vice President, Marketing of Braves Development Company; Past Regional Vice President of Marketing, The Mills; [Do we need a “Past” before “Director” here?] Director of Marketing & Business Development of Lenox Square in Atlanta, GA; West Town Mall in Knoxville, TN; St.John’s Town Center in Jacksonville, FL, Melbourne Square in Melbourne, FL; and Biltmore Square in Asheville, NC
  • Dr. Leana Kart, Chiropractor and Founder of Northwest Chiropractic; recognized as Small Business of the Year by the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce;  named a Top Doctor by Atlanta magazine; awarded Chiropractor of the Year by the Georgia Chiropractic Association (GCA); recipient of Lifetime Achievement award by GCA; past president of GCA and currently serving as Treasurer and Chairman of the Political Action Committee; recipient of the Majestic Eagle and the To Give Award from Life University; currently serving on Life University Board of Trustees

Gruehn added, “On behalf of the board, I want to express our gratitude to Joyette Holmes and Callie Andrews who each concluded their board service in 2023. With their help, we achieved the goals we set for the year.”
