Breaking it Down – Cobb Thrives Gift Guide, One of Three Grant Categories in the Thrive Program

The 2023 CCF Thrive Grant Program has been developed this year from feedback received over the past year from our leadership and from nonprofits. There are 3 components to the program. In this article, we will look at the Cobb Thrives Gift Guide opportunity.

Cobb Thrives Gift Guide

We could not be more excited about the opportunity for exposure for our local featured nonprofits here!

The Cobb Thrives Gift Guide (CTGG) is a concept modeled after successful programs used by community foundations all over the country (Google the words “Foundation Wish Book” to see examples). The CTGG will be a 24-page gift registry for nonprofits profiling their community impact and outlining 3 specific funding requests with an adjacent QR code. These funding requests will support the nonprofit’s operational and programmatic needs, and their combined total will be $7,500.

The 30 organizations featured will be selected by a trained grant selection committee from applications submitted on or before October 5. Selections will be made considering a variety of opportunities across the county and the compelling nature of the stories and photos. Eligibility rules apply and may be found here.

How Will Donors Participate?

During the Holiday Season, giving becomes a focus. Companies, individuals and families may be looking for a way to give back. During this very busy season, this gift guide conveniently outlines specific needs right here in our community and makes it easy. Donors may use the QR code to go directly to a giving page to grant those gifts.

Gifts of any size are welcome. Some donors may choose to cover the cost of an entire gift. Others may want to send a smaller amount that would go toward the total of a gift. All gifts are welcome and will count toward the target amounts.

How Will Gift Guides be Distributed?

We are very excited about the benefit of the exposure for our nonprofit community! The guides will go out through:

  • Marietta Daily Journal’s Thanksiving issue on November 22 (over 6,000)
  • December Cobb Chamber’s Monday Marquee (over 450)
  • Cobb Community Foundation’s Donor List (over 500)
  • Promoted throughout Cobb County on Outfront media billboards (16 billboards with incredible reach)
  • Posted on the Cobb Community Foundation website
  • Pushed out through Social Media

Additionally they will be distributed through partner organizations like Brasfield & Gorrie, Cobb County Bar Association, dk Gallery, Indian Hills Country Club, Leadership Cobb, Mableton Improvement Coalition,  & Pinnacle Financial Partners.

How will it look?
The 8.5 ” x 11″ catalog will have 2 nonprofits with compelling stories listed per page. There will be photos throughout the 24-page catalog. There will also be an accompanying smaller “tiny booklet” with a QR code that guides gift givers to the online version of the Gift Guide.

We look forward to seeing what we can accomplish together with the first Cobb Thrives Gift Guide.

Consistent with our vision, Cobb Community Foundation is working to create a community fully engaged in meeting needs now and into the future. We want everyone in and around Cobb County to thrive, and that requires strong and supported nonprofits.
