Bus Tour = Aviation History & Technology Center + Kids Next Code

Recently Brad Hawkins, Director of the Aviation History & Technology Center led a class on avionics for the young students at Kids Next Code (KNC).

KNC is a tech-driven program for youth that provides support in the areas of Coding, Engineering, Cybersecurity, Design, and other tech and STEAM related subjects. Located in Austell and Kennesaw, they strive to be a resource for students in underserved communities to help expand career opportunities.

This opportunity was created through a CCF Bus Tour! CCF Board Member and KNC Founder Travis Reeves joined us for a bus tour in the spring when we visited the Aviation History & Technology Center. He had lots of questions for Brad that day, and it led to an ongoing conversation. When the director of The Austell Youth Innovation Center requested a KNC class focusing on aviation, Travis had just the solution.

That day, the kids learned about Bernoulli’s principle and other science behind air travel. Reeves reported the kids were excited and knew some of the principles ahead of time. “There was just so much to learn, and the students especially enjoyed talking about the cockpit components,” said Reeves.

We love bringing together resources around community nonprofits to help them make a greater impact for Cobb. Learn more about our Bus Tours here.
