Barbara Hickey Children’s Fund 2022 Cobb Diaper Day

Because hygiene items like diapers are not covered by food stamps, low income families often must make difficult choices between food and diapers. Cobb Diaper Day Founder Barbara Hickey was shocked to learn just how expensive diapers can be when she bought diapers as a first-time grandmother. She knew right away that she wanted all babies to get a good start. Already a dedicated Cobb community supporter, she began talking with her friends about the issue and collecting diapers in the trunk of her car.

Cobb Diaper Day has evolved quite a bit since its start in 2009. The Barbara Hickey Children’s Fund was created through the Cobb Community Foundation and supports the activities of Cobb Diaper Day and Operation Warmth. When Barbara Hickey passed away in 2019, her devoted friends remained committed to the effort and still hold Cobb Diaper Day in her name to continue the good work she began. Now in its 14th year of gathering diapers, more than 1,000,000 diapers and wipes are donated to local nonprofits to support families in need.

This year the Barbara Hickey Children’s Fund 2022 Cobb Diaper Day is taking place throughout September and October. You can help keep Cobb babies warm and dry by making a donation to the Barbara Hickey Children’s Fund here.
