CCF teams up with SignatureFD for Webinar for Advisors

Cobb Community Foundation‘s President & CEO, Shari Martin, and Elizabeth Burdette, Director of Client Engagement for SignatureGENEROSITY at Signature FD, presented to a virtual audience of CPAs and financial and investment advisors Wednesday, November 5th about Weaving Charitable Giving Tips into Your Year-End Planning.

Burdette provided insights to the advisors on how to effectively navigate the conversation with their clients, sharing that 94% of all wealthy donors would like to be more knowledgeable about charitable giving but do not have a plan.  She also shared that the majority of high net worth clients (defined as clients whose net worth is in excess of $1 million) believe that their advisor should play an important part in philanthropic efforts, second only to the spouse.

Martin, whose background includes 30 years in the wealth management arena, presented a number of charitable planning strategies, including Qualified Charitable Distributions, bunching of charitable gifts, donor-advised funds, and asset selection.  She noted that all of these strategies are likely already known to the audience participants but are not always top of mind.  Martin also discussed the various options available for donor-advised funds, reminding advisors of the impact community foundations have had and continue to have on their local communities.  “By engaging the donor-advised fund services of a community foundation,” Martin said, “the donor is giving back to their community before they’ve even made the first charitable grant from their fund.”

The presentation is available for replay here.
