Cobb Community Foundation is very excited to partner with Cobb non-profit, Loving Arms Cancer Outreach.

Loving Arms Cancer Outreach was started in March 2011 by two oncology nurses who saw a need and decided to do something about it. Their desire was to help cancer patients right here in our community.

They found that direct assistance options were few and far between for those who truly needed help. There are programs available to those classified in the poverty level but not for those living paycheck to paycheck and who have been affected by unforeseen financial stress due to being diagnosed with cancer. Days that were filled with getting up, getting the kids off to school, going to work, coming home, fixing dinner and starting over again the next day now have days filled with doctors, appointments, tests, needles, fatigue, nausea and pain. Their world has been turned upside down because of an unforeseen enemy wreaking havoc in their body.

Loving Arms Cancer Outreach believes that cancer patients should be able to focus on their health needs with dignity and honor without having to worry about mounting expenses on top of everything else. Loving Arms offsets some of those expenses up to $600 per year per patient in the form of gas cards, grocery cards, directly paying the utility companies, buying medication for the uninsured, providing free wigs, hats and scarves.

Loving Arms cannot do this alone, they rely on the support of the community and volunteers. Loving Arms is run mostly by volunteers who help with office duties, fundraisers, marketing and even washing wigs.
