In late 1993, a group of Cobb business leaders, established the Cobb Community Fund at the Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta. Fourteen years later, we obtained our 501(c)(3) designation and became Cobb Community Foundation.

In 2017, Cobb Community Foundation provided $1.4 million in grants, $900,000 of which was distributed to charitable organizations right here in Cobb County. This is just one example of how we are fulfilling our mission of inspiring charitable giving, building resources for the future and connecting donors who care with causes that matter. Because it is our vision to one day live in a community fully engaged in meeting needs now and into the future.

As 2018 marks the 25th anniversary for Cobb Community Foundation, the Together We Can Event will celebrate this momentous year and raise funds to further support our mission through the Community Impact Fund, a charitable fund that will provide community impact grants to Cobb County in 2019 and beyond. This cornerstone event will be the first of its kind in Cobb County: an elegantly simple, upscale Sunday brunch, which will honor the people on whose shoulders the organization was built – founders, past board chairs and board members.

Attendees will hear from individuals whose lives were impacted by Cobb Community Impact Grants and will have an opportunity to adopt a 2019 grant or even adopt a grant permanently.

HONOREES

In addition to the founders of Cobb Community Foundation, attendees will toast our Philanthropists of the Year, David and Brittney Bottoms, and recognize another founder – Tommy Allegood, mayor of Acworth, former executive director of Cobb Community Foundation and founder of the Cobb Community Impact Grant.

OUR COMMUNITY NEED IS GREAT

Previously, Cobb County and matching funds from private donors funded the Cobb Community Impact Grants. Cobb Community Foundation was entrusted with the oversight of the grants management and resulting impact. Since 2015, approximately $820,000 of Cobb County taxpayer dollars, along with matching private contributions equaling $937,000, have been awarded. As a result, nearly 325,000 Cobb County residents have been positively impacted.

Rather than being dependent on what dollars the County may provide, the new Community Impact Fund provides a mechanism for businesses, families and individuals to come together to ensure that resources will be available for the non-profit community, both now and into the future.
